About Hajar

She is a journalist, filmmaker, and writer, currently living in Paris, where she works as a cultural journalist for ARTE, a Franco-German television channel. She produces short documentary films for the show 'Tracks', dedicated to subcultures and underground communities. She also contributes to the Bondy Blog, an award-winning blog focused on social issues in French suburbs. Additionally, she is a regular contributor to Dune Magazine, where she writes about North African arts and media representation. She began her career at France 24, covering news from Africa to North America. She produced an independent documentary between Turkey and Egypt, focused on community resilience during the pandemic, for which she received an award from the UNESCO Center for Peace. Outside of her journalism activities, in 2021, she founded ARTSCHIVES, a collective dedicated to artistic and educational programming that actively promotes diaspora narratives as a catalyst for social change. This is done through exhibitions, film screenings, and residencies. Returning to her roots, she is Moroccan and grew up between Italy, France, and the United States. After studying political science and development studies at La Sorbonne, she attended the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University.
